The VCT-Pro family (VCT 7wxyP) is dedicated to high-quality LCD and plasma TV sets. The IC enables the design of FPD TV solutions without any additional external components thus significantly reducing the overall system costs. Besides audio, video, Teletext, OSD, and controller-related functionalities even memory and program ROM are integrated in the IC. The pin-compatible VCT-Pro family represents a unique concept offering a scalable feature set. This allows the design of a complete range of HD-ready TV sets, including IDTV, based on a common and economic hardware and software platform. The VCT-Pro family is based on proven functional blocks of existing products, such as VCT 6wxyP. Each member contains the entire audio, video, de-interlacing/scaling processing for state-of-the-art LCD or Plasma TV sets including the control/data interface for flat-panel displays. The integrated microcontroller is supported by a powerful OSD and graphics generator with integrated Teletext acquisition. Offering highest system flexibility the VCT-Pro integrates all video and audio interfaces to support converging digital and analog video/audio and PC signal applications. System ArchitectureThe VCT-Pro front-end video processing unit offers 16 analog video inputs (CVBS/ Y/C, RGB/YCrCb) as well as digital interfaces for SDTV and HDTV. Micronas latest 3D+ comb filter generation provides highest performance for PAL/NTSC signals. A VBI slicer, supporting up to 2000 pages of Teletext completes the analog video front end. Parallel processing of master, PiP and PC sources supported by two triple sets of video ADCs, enables various PiP and PaP configurations without further external components. 3D-motion-adaptive de-interlacing, temporal noise reduction and film mode detection are based on a unified memory technology. Post-scaling in the display processing block ensures the desired output format. Display processing is supported by an 8-bit 8051-compatible controller. Alpha-blending capable graphic mixers compose the output image combining the source layers which are video, OSD and pixel graphics. The audio part consists of a multistandard sound IF demodulator and a baseband processor supporting various sound features. Motion blur removal using 100 Hz/120 Hz LCD panels, motion compensation and film judder removal features can be added using Micronas’ FRC 94xyH, allowing the use of the highly regarded truD® HD Logo.
