The Micronas VGC 5969B high-quality flat-panel TV Controller enables advanced dual-channel applications such as double window, picture-in-picture (PIP) or as picture-and-text (PAT), while preserving full image resolution and optimizing picture quality. Two independent 10-bit signal paths offer frame-based motion-adaptive de-interlacing which is key-essential to ensure highest possible vertical resolution of 1080i inputs. The de-interlacing can be further enhanced by combining the VGC 5969B with Micronas’ unique truD® HD technology, implemented in the Micronas FRC® device, enabling full HD de-juddering and motion blur elimination for LCD panels. The VGC 5969B supports all relevant input formats, including 1080p and various PC resolutions. The front-end includes two triple 10-bit ADCs preserving image quality from computer or other analog sources, allowing easy PC-TV integration. Composite video, quad CVBS, triple Y/C, and triple component inputs are also supported. The built-in switch matrix allows any input to be selected for either channel. Two separate color decoders with 2-D/3-D comb filters for NTSC and PAL eliminate irritating chrominance and luminance artefacts. Two independent VBI slicers support multi-standard data services, such as V-chip, closed-caption, MegaText® L2.5, and Electronic Programming Guide (EPG), to satisfy worldwide information requirements. The full-screen pixel-based graphical OSD is powered by an on-chip graphics accelerator. Output formats include 30-bit digital RGB and two channels of 10-bit LVDS. The VGC 5969B meets all requirements for the European HD-Ready label. For the DVB market, the VGC 5969B can be ideally combined with the Micronas MDE® 95xyD and the Micronas front-end DRX® 39xyD.
