Short description

The Micronas HVC 22xyA_HVC 24xyA, a family of high-voltage controllers for use in automotive and industrial applications, features advanced integration for a compact and cost-effective system design.

Reducing the number of external components to a minimum, the product’s flexible peripherals allow controlling motors via relays, brushed or brushless DC motors via enhanced PWM outputs, monitoring a switch matrix or acting as a sensor interface. The chip provides an ideal solution for smart sensor and smart actuator applications.

Beside standard features, such as timers/counters, interrupt controller, multichannel A/D converter and enhanced PWMs, this family contains a voltage regulator for direct 12 V supply and a LIN physical layer interface. Various integrated digital and analog features such as multi-threshold comparators, embedded amplifier and relay drivers allow users to minimize the number of external components. Interfacing of switches and sensors, either with 5 V or 12 V input signal range, is much easier thanks to the 12 V digital inputs. High-current output ports can be used to directly drive LEDs or external power-MOS devices. The devices also contain an active EMI Reduction Module (ERM), allowing an easier and lower-cost board design.

System Architecture

The high-voltage controller family is based on the 8051 processor with two-clock machine cycle and operates at a maximum clock frequency of 24 MHz. An internal oscillator with PLL provides the system clock. An internal RC clock is used for the independent window watchdog. I/O ports have multiple functions and all of them can withstand the battery voltage range and ISO 7637-2:2004 with a serial resistor only. The built-in active EMI suppression helps to reduce the peak values.
