The MSP-M/MAP-M audio processor family represents the latest generation of -Micronas’ single-chip audio systems, specially designed for demanding high-end flat-panel TVs or audio solutions. The MSP-M is dedicated for TVs receiving analog or analog/digital broadcast. It performs all baseband audio processing, provides all required interfaces, and is able to demodulate/decode all analog TV audio standards worldwide plus NICAM and FM stereo radio with RDS/RBDS. The MAP-M is optimized for TVs focussing on digital broadcast reception, as well as other audio applications that demand high processing power and numerous interfaces. MAP-M has the same functions, I/Os, and building blocks as the MSP-M, except for the demodulator/stereo decoder. Both ICs are fully pin- and software compatible acting as central and only audio device in modern TVs or other audio applications. MSP-M/MAP-M is powered by Micronas' unique 24/48-bit QuadMAU DSP (Quadruple Mathematical Arithmetic Unit) which performs all TV-specific and baseband audio processing. This comprises basic corrections such as parametric equalizer or lip sync delay plus a wide choice of add-on technologies. They include 3rd party audio algorithms, as well as highly-recognized audio technologies which are available under Micronas’ -meloDTM brand. The functionality of MSP-M/MAP-M can be further extended by using the DSP-code download option which allows customer-specific audio algorithms and ported 3rd party algorithms under license to be processed on MSP-M/MAP-M. MSP-M/MAP-M is equipped with CMP, the Micronas Customizable Modular Processing. CMP allows individual placing and linking of audio processing blocks within MSP-M/MAP-M and therefore enables the creation of exactly the processing structure required by the application. |
