Übersicht der Hall-Schalter-Familien

Die einfachste Anwendung für einen Hall-Sensor ist der Einsatz als "digitaler Schalter". Die magnetische Feldstärke wird gemessen und mit einem festen vorgegeben oder programmierbaren Schwellwert im Sensor verglichen. Sobald dieser Wert überschritten wird (Schaltpunkt) ändert sich der Schaltzustand am Ausgang des Sensors und der Ausgangstransistor wird  ein- oder ausgeschaltet. Zwei Arten von Schaltern stehen zur Verfügung: die 3-Draht-Version mit Open-Drain-Ausgang oder die 2-Draht-Ausführung mit Strom-codiertem Ausgang.
